RSS
stands for "Really Simple Syndication," and is a popular
way for websites to syndicate their content. Free Christian Content.org
offers two RSS feeds of our own. One for new content listed on the
site and one for the SONday Weekly Ezine. By subscribing to an RSS
feed,
you can receive the content as soon as it's published, without the
need
to visit the website. RSS has several advantages over email. You don't
have to provide your email address and
you don't have to go through a complicated process to unsubscribe from
a feed... you simply delete the feed. In short, RSS is safer and
easier to manage than email.
The
pages listed on this menu contain Christian RSS Feeds. You will
need a Feed Reader to view the content of the feeds. Some email programs
and web browsers can read RSS feeds or have plug ins available. Firefox is
one of those. There are also programs called RSS readers that allow
you to manage and read your RSS subscriptions. There
are several free ones on the net. A simple one to use is FeedReader.
You simply download it, install it, click on the
new feed button, and paste the RSS Feed URL into the "New Feed Wizard" window,
click "Next",
click "Finish" and your feed is set up
and ready to use.
To get the URL of the feed: Firefox/Netscape:
right click on the XML icon
and
select "copy link location. Internet Explorer:
right click
on the link or icon
and
select "Copy Shortcut".
